Creative Music Videos

Somebody That I Used To Know

When I heard this song last year, I had no idea that this was going to be one of 2012′s biggest hits. Every hour of every day, this song is requested, and I’ve grown fond of it now.

A song originally from Gotye, Somebody That I used To Know, has been getting a lot of attention lately. I would like to think that it’s not just because of the lyrics (which is a lamentation of a painful relationship…I think), but also because of the music video.

And then this cover came out by Walk Off The Earth, and what is amazing about this is that they are using just one instrument. Just that one guitar for their percussion and strings. Plus, the bearded guy is a boss (and looks like Eric Cantona).

Needing/Getting

Who would not put Ok Go in the creative music video list. They always outperform their own music videos. Truly one of a kind.

Ankle Injuries

Music by Fujiya and Miyagi, this video uses domino-blocks to create an 8-bit like video.

Teardrop

A very familiar tune, I am sure. Most notably known as the theme for House, the fox TV hit. I think I heard this in a video game as well, I think it was Assassin’s Creed I;m not really sure. Anyway, the music is by Massive Attack, and I love everything about the video, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it before.

Fell In Love With A Girl

By The White Stripes, this video has Lego’s all over it. I love Lego’s, and The White Stripes, it’s both things that I like in one video. Convenient.

The Child

The song is by Alex Gopher, but this brilliant music video is by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet. He used words to create an image, to tell us and describe to us what exactly is happening in the storyline.

Breaking The Habit

By Linkin Park, Breaking The Habit uses Japanese animation and storyline for their music video. Again with the things that I love, but I really do like Japanese Anime, and everything about this video is just brilliant.

That’s it for some of what I think are creatively done music videos. I am very sure you have more to add to this list. I hope that actually thinking about the music and how to convey that music to other people becomes a trend, because I am slowly losing hope in modern music, or not to generalize, some of the things the kids like hearing today.

When foreigners sing OPM songs

OPM-Original Pilipino Music

That’s what we call homegrown music. And it’s always nice to hear other people from other countries enjoy our music, and it’s interesting too if I might add. I don’t know if they had someone translate it to them, but when they sing it, it’s as if they have understood the songs by heart (cheesy!) . And I enjoy watching them sing Philippine songs, not to laugh at them, of course not (Filipinos do the same thing to songs we don’t really understand), I enjoy watching it because I love the songs and it’s nice that they love it too. Here are a couple of videos I found on a channel in youtube, calls himself American JOePM, he’s quite good actually :D

What’s cute about this is, he really loves doing it. Truly enough, we appreciate what he’s been doing. And this just goes to show that music goes beyond borders.

These are the original versions of the songs he sang, in order :D

Enjoy!
